As the ‘Recycle Now’ campaign launches its National Recycle Week (June 22nd to 28th) comes the news of an increase in waste wood recycling in 2008 to over 2 million tonnes.

Figures recently announced by the Wood Recyclers Association show an overall increase in wood waste recycling of 7% compared to 2007. Most significant is the increase in wood waste now used in Biomass/Energy which has risen by 48% to almost ˝ million tonnes due to large-scale biomass demand.

The figures available from the Wood Recyclers Association were compiled in June 2009 and contrast with the 191,000 tonnes of PVC waste recycled throughout the whole of Europe, and the 42,700 tonnes of PVC waste recycled in the UK in 2008.
