New, high performance, timber windows to match the existing windows (particularly the horns) of the Victorian building. The windows had to be fitted into the existing openings. The windows on the ground floor were up to four and a half metres tall, fixed (non-opening), with curved heads.
West Port supplied a fully factory-finished modern ‘dual swing’ window. This stepped sash window is designed to look like a traditional sliding sash window but with modern opening sashes. The windows had to be craned in over the top of the building shell to be installed from the inside, because the reveals (as is traditional) were larger on the inside than the outside.
New windows that are entirely in keeping with the old windows. However, they have the performance, durability and low maintenance of modern factory-finished windows. And the top-hung opening sashes are fully reversible to allow for cleaning, maintenance and decoration from inside the building.
